126 Simplifying T'ai Chi
A Few Basic Yang Style Movements
This 8 Step (10) step Yang form was developed in 1999 by T'ai Chi Masters
from the official Chinese Sports Council.
Sometimes referred to as 10 step (to include the commencing and closing
movements), this is a compact Yang form that teaches the primary constituent
movements of Yang style T'ai Chi. It is an ideal way for beginners to learn Yang
style movement and posture. The form takes around 4 minutes to complete and
has limited sideways steps to left and right making it ideal for home practice as it
can be performed in a small 2 metre space.
The 8 Step Yang Form
The following instructions and pictures are included to help beginners and also to
act as an aide mémoire to those who may prefer images to words. They are NOT
intended to teach the intricacy of the movement - that's your teacher's job!
